We are happy to Announce our Pet Shelter is Now Open
Women In Distress, through a unique partnership with the Humane Society of Broward County, is the only South Florida domestic abuse certified facility with an approved Pet Shelter. This unique partnership allows us to ensure survivors’ pets (dogs and cats) receive proper nutrition, physical exams, and vaccines.
Thanks to our founding donors, survivors fleeing abusive situations can now be alleviated from the worry of leaving their dogs and cats behind. Survivors can now bring along their dogs and cats and be confident that their pets will be received with care, just as they are.
