We are Happy to Announce our Pet Shelter is Now Open
In October, Women In Distress, through a unique partnership with the Humane Society of Broward County, became the only Florida Domestic Abuse certified facility with an approved Pet Shelter. This unique partnership allows us to ensure survivors’ pets (dogs and cats) receive proper nutrition, physical exams, and vaccines.
Thanks to our founding donors, survivors fleeing abusive situations can now be alleviated from the worry of leaving their dogs and cats behind. Survivors can now bring along their dogs and cats and be confident that their pets will be received with care, just as they are.
Thank You to Our Generous Founding Supporters
It’s because of the support from these founding partners that Women In Distress is able to continue to help survivors leave abusive and dangerous domestic violence situations. Thank you for being an integral part of the Pet Shelter program from the inception and wonderful community partners who share our vision.
