In 2008 the Hal Herman Children’s Fund was established by Lois Herman as a celebration of her husband’s 80th birthday.
The Hal Herman Children’s Fund, at Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc., helps support the smallest survivors of domestic violence. Even when children don’t see domestic abuse, they usually know it is happening. It can affect them deeply.
Through the Hal Herman Children’s Fund and the generosity of those who support Women In Distress, children receive supervised care while their parent is in counseling and also receive help from specialized therapists that use play therapy, art therapy and more to help these children break the cycle of domestic violence.
Everyday Women In Distress works hard to meet the needs of each child that walks through the door, but we couldn’t do this without your help. Over half of the individuals we serve in the Emergency Shelter are children. A gift to Hal Herman Children’s Fund will allow us to continue to support the needs of survivors of domestic abuse and their children. As always, all of our services are provided free of charge.
Please consider making a gift to the Hal Herman Children’s Fund at Women In Distress. Every gift will have an impact on the life of a survivor of domestic abuse and their family. Gifts of $500 or more will be recognized with an engraved plate in honor of a family member, friend or loved one on the Hal Herman Children’s Fund Celebration Wall at the Women In Distress Family Center.
A gift to the Hal Herman Children’s Fund will support the littlest victims of domestic violence receiving services at Women In Distress.
