Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a national effort to promote awareness and prevention of domestic violence throughout the month of October. Please join us and Memorial Healthcare System in raising awareness in our community. During this pandemic, home isn’t a safe option for some. Help us continue our mission of stopping domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education, and advocacy.

Want to learn more about domestic violence and how to help or support someone? Join us for this free virtual community workshop on October 11th at 3:30 PM.
This introductory-level Domestic Violence Awareness Month workshop open to all community members will cover the dynamics of domestic violence to build an understanding of the various forms of abuse and warning signs survivors may experience, leading to an exploration of ways to support survivors and to promote greater safety and violence prevention in the community, as we work to understand that domestic violence as a community-level, public safety and public health issue.

“In Her Shoes” DVAM Introductory Training for Community Professionals
9 am to 12 PM at Nova Southeastern University
Our goal is not only to assist survivors directly through our services, but to build capacity, knowledge, and awareness in the community to end domestic violence. This “In Her Shoes” domestic violence training will allow attendees to gain a better understanding of the barriers survivors of domestic violence face and join the conversation on how we can work together to create a safer community.

Domestic violence is a complex issue that impacts so much of a survivor’s life and so many pieces of our community. This training will go in-depth based the basics to explore how survivors interact with various systems, and how professionals and providers in the area can best support safety and hold those who abuse accountable. Our goal at WID is not only to assist survivors directly through our services, but to build capacity, knowledge, and awareness in the community to end domestic violence.
