On March 21st, the 7th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament benefiting Women In Distress produced by the Colony West Women’s Golf Group was held at the Pompano Golf Club. This year’s event was the best one ever and raised $24,000 for programs and services such as safe emergency shelter, a 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, counseling and therapeutic hours for survivors and their children, and more. A daylong event of golfing, lunch, and prize drawings resulted in a $5,000 increase in proceeds over last year.
“Jan Parke, Chairperson and Invitational Chair, and her Colony West team are amazing partners,” said Mary Riedel, CEO. “They embraced our mission from the very first time we met and have continued to soar higher each and every year.”
“I’m proud of my dedicated volunteers: Alberta Bove, Geri Thomas, Natalee Jones, and Penny Eppy, who spent many hours helping to produce this tournament, and the prior tournaments over the last 6 years,” said Invitational Chair, Jan Parke. Other chairs and helpers included Jackie Rogazione, Mary Bock, Kerri Tucker, Sandy Hoke, Jen Meltzer, and Rosanne Elakman. Jan is also thankful for the 32 teams and 128 players that participated in the tournament, most of which have played in the tournament for many years. She sees the tournament as the embodiment of women helping women.
Women In Distress extends a heartfelt thank you to Jan and the Colony West Women’s Golf Group for their continued support. Your generosity helps our families to build futures free of domestic violence, and full of hope and second chances.
