Wills & Bequests

For victims of domestic violence and their children, there is often no such thing as an inheritance…no savings account or bonds passed on to the next generation. But with your contribution, you are leaving a legacy. Our participants and their children will know that someone remembered them, supported them, believed in them… and helped plan for their future by funding programs that empower them to gain independence and self-sufficiency for a violence-free future.Making a gift through your will is an excellent choice if you want to have a lasting impact on the lives of domestic violence survivors long after you are gone, but wish to maintain liquidity and use of your assets during your lifetime. The full amount of your gift is deductible from your taxable estate.

A bequest can be unrestricted, enabling Women In Distress to direct your funds where future need is the greatest, or restricted for a particular program or service at Women In Distress.

If you include Women In Distress and our families in your will, please let us know so that we can thank you appropriately and provide you with the necessary documentation. Contact Director of Development, Mary Helen Olejnik at 954-760-9800 x 1244.
