Thank You
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the Women In Distress 13th Annual SAFEWALK-RUN 5K Presented by Pollo Tropical on Saturday, October 29, 2011! Because of you and your support, we not only reached our goal of raising $100,000 to help provide critical and supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their children, we surpassed it! We couldn’t have done it without you! These generous donations will provide much needed services such as: 100 shelter beds, almost 10,000 calls to our crisis hotline, or over 1,000 nights in our emergency shelter.
The event was a true success, with more than 75 teams and 1,200 individuals coming together to take a step to end domestic violence. Special thanks to our Honorary Chairs, 97.3 The Coast’s “Those 2 Girls In The Morning,” Tamara G. and Julie Guy, for livening up the event, and to the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders who led the crowd in a special warm-up dance.
Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of the families we serve. We look forward to seeing you next year!

About The Event
Beginning in 1999, each year Women In Distress holds a SAFEWALK-RUN 5K to encourage the community to take a step to end domestic violence. The event not only raises community awareness about domestic violence and the services offered by Women In Distress, but also raises crucial funds to help support our mission. Many groups, businesses, friends, families, and more come together to form teams and join individuals to show the community that families deserve to be safe.
