About the Event
Raising funds for charity through a poker tournament is not a new concept, but when Women In Distress set out to raise awareness about Domestic Violence in the Poker Community and show how poker can be a positive force for good, Bryan Oulton, owner of All In Free Poker, was the natural choice. Three years ago Bryan’s mother was killed by his father, and since then, Bryan has become a strong advocate for victims of domestic violence. Along with his business partner, Sandy Swartzbaugh, Bryan brought together the Isle Casino, Women In Distress, and the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund to create the PermaPlate Poker Tournament, with the aim of making the evening, not only an annual fundraiser for these two charities, but also a new way to engage the poker community in ending domestic violence.
