Plan An Event to Benefit Women In Distress
Many organizations plan fashion shows, luncheons, golf tournaments, and many other types of events to raise funds for Women In Distress. We ask groups to complete the Special Event Form prior to utilizing Women In Distress' name or logo in any event communication. Organize a Donation Drive
Organize a donation drive with your family, friends, scout troop, association, or office to collect items for Women In Distress' wishlist. Women In Distress shelters more than 400 women and children each year and serves an additional 700 + on an outreach basis at our Jim and Jan Moran Family Center. For a printable drive calendar click here.
Cell
Phone Campaign
Our cell phone fundraiser program is sponsored by Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), a program of cell phone recycling company GRC Wireless Recycling (www.grcrecycling.com). Through Shelter Alliance, Women In Distress raises more than $30,000 annually through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit services to victims of domestic violence.
Cell
phones play an integral role in the safety plan of our participants.
If you or your company would like to
conduct a cell phone drive, please contact Karen Skidmore at

Donate to one of the Funds established to Support WID
Donnah's Fund
Ira and Sara Jane Drescher established Donnah's Fund to keep the memory of their daughter, a fatal victim of domestic violence, alive. The goal of Donnah’s Fund is to empower domestic violence victims to live safely and independently. It will help them establish safe households for themselves and their children, with support for housing payments and deposits, furnishings and other related items. Click here for more information
Cindy Cusano Memorial Fund
Cindy Cusano loved life, her family and her children. Tragically, Cindy was among thousands of silent victims. In 1999 this beautiful girl was killed by her husband. Cindy's family joined together and established the Cindy Cusano Memorial Pro-Am Tournament to support the Fund in Cindy's name dedicated to supporting child victims of domestic violence.

Hal Herman Children's Fund
In honor of Hal Herman's birthday, Hal's wife, Lois, established the Hal Herman's Children's Fund at Women In Distress.

Endowments
Endowments
are permanent legacies that provide significant donor recognition
as well as support for our programs in perpetuity. The principal
of your endowment gift is invested and the income from the investment
is used to continue providing the education, treatment and education
programs in Broward County. WID currently has two endowment funds
managed by the Community Foundation of Broward. If you would like
to contribute to the Edee Greene Fund or the Domestic Violence
Fund for Women In Distress, please contact Jennifer Stewart at 954.760.9800
x 1235.
Planned Giving
Deferred
gifts allow you to provide a larger legacy than might be possible
then outright gifts made during your lifetime. Your planned gift
will contribute to the future strength of the institution and
enable WID's staff to carry forward the work and ideals in which
you believe. Planned
gifts may be in the form of bequests, life insurance, qualified
retirement plans or real estate. We encourage you and your legal/financial
advisors to work with the Development Office staff to plan deferred
gifts.
International Calling Cards
Women In Distress serves a multicultural population representative of Broward County's diverse community. International calling cards will help WID participants communicate with their international families to let them know they are safe. Although all cards are needed, most useful are calling cards for South America and the Caribbean.
Donate your Car
Many
people donate their automobiles to WID for a participant who is in
need of transportation. This donation is facilitated through
Charity Cars. Please contact Charity Cars directly by calling
1- 800-242-7489 and inform them that you would like your contribution
to benefit a participant of Women In Distress. Charity Cars will then
arrange a pick up at your convenience.
