Events Manager  

Days/Hours:  Monday – Friday, 9am to 6pm.  Evening and weekends as needed.

Salary Range:  $40,000 – $45,000

Workplace Location(s):  Jim and Jan Moran Family Center in Deerfield Beach, FL

Date available:  May 13, 2013

Supervised by:  Associate Director of Development

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of three years of successful experience in developing and executing revenue-generating special events.  Experience with walk/runs preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.  Proof of automobile liability insurance. Safe driving record

Brief Job Description:

Agency Events

  • Responsible for meeting event revenue goals of $380,000+ annually as well as the planning, coordination, direction, execution, and evaluation for all revenue-generating agency events including SAFEWALK-RUN 5K, Poker Tournament, & Starfish Luncheon.
  • Responsible for planning and executing all events, which includes but is not limited to oversight of logistics, marketing, communication, recruiting, acknowledgments, sponsor benefit fulfillment, and soliciting in-kind donations.
  • Responsible for creating and executing plans to secure, cultivate, and steward corporate and in-kind sponsorships, individual donors, 5K teams, and table hosts to meet fundraising goals.
  • Develop and implement successful strategies for increasing revenue and event participation.  With a limited budget, create positive and impactful guest experiences.  Conduct market research to analyze events of competitors.  After each event, critically assess and provide recommendations for future improvement.
  • Responsible for working with Marketing and PR Coordinator to develop creative concept, event print and e-collateral materials, PR and social media plans, and determine new ways to promote the events.
  • Recruit, motivate and guide event volunteer committees.
  • Develop and oversee event budgets; negotiate event contracts; reconcile with Finance team; create innovative ways to increase revenue while managing expenses.
  • Manage the procurement, logistics and fulfillment of silent auctions, raffles, and fundraising incentives.

Campaigns and Third Party Events

  • Responsible for meeting third party event revenue goal of $45,000+ annually.
  • Oversee coordination & fulfillment of these events, partnerships, and relationships.
  • Identify and solicit new relationships and maintain existing ones with appropriate third party fundraising groups to meet revenue goals.
  • Represent Women In Distress at select public speaking engagements of any size group when assigned and gives tours to supporters.
  • Responsible for meeting campaign and revenue goals, specifically but not limited to the Love Campaign and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Donation Drives

  • Responsible for agency donation drives, including but not limited to: Back to School, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Winter Holiday.
  • Implements, coordinates, and oversees gently-used donation drives to drive Thrift Store revenue.
  • Communicates with donors about donation needs.
  • Works with Associate Director of Development to create and implement annual strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding in-kind donors to meet goals.

Other:

  • Support development, planning and coordination of projects to support overall development effort and/or specific program needs.
  • Performs any other assignments given by the President/CEO, Director of Development, and/or Development Manager.
  • Responsible for overseeing volunteers as needed to complete projects.
  • Capable of simultaneously managing and prioritizing multiple projects while maintaining priorities, focus and attention-to-detail.
  • Works with internal staff, volunteers, and program participants to secure thank you’s, participant stories, or more for stewardship, event, and PR purposes.

Accounting Associate

Days/Hours:   Monday through Friday 8:30 – 5:30.  40 hours per week.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.4 years of experience in an accounting environment.
  • Experience in accounts payable and in performing intermediate level Excel functions.
  • Not-for Profit accounting experience a plus.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.  Safe driving record.  Proof of automobile liability insurance.

Brief Job Description:

  • Perform & manage the accounts payable function to assure timely and accurate payments & compliance with budgetary, grant & regulatory guidelines.
  • Process daily cash receipts.
  • Prepare monthly grant billings, schedules 7 reports.
  • Provide insurance administrative support.
  • Perform special projects & prepare monthly & annual accounting schedules, closing entries and analyses, as assigned.
  • Works with the Director of Finance and other staff to efficiently perform the department’s role and function.

Position requires:

  • Working knowledge of accounting software, Microsoft and other computer programs.
  • Ability to learn and work in a highly regulated accounting environment.
  • Proven record working as a team player and in completing tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational skills & detail oriented.
  • Ability to type minimum 55 WPM.
  • Working knowledge of accounting procedures, accounts payable & billing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Family Enrichment Coordinator

Days/Hours:   40 hours per week Monday through Friday with a minimum of 2 evenings per week and some weekend or holidays as necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum of three years working with children and/or families
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or supervisory  experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.  Safe driving record.  Proof of automobile liability insurance.

Workplace Location(s):  Based at the Family Center with some travel in the community.

Brief Job Description:

Responsible for identifying, creating, marketing and implementing enrichment activities to enhance services and activities available to adults & children who are receiving services at Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. Collaborates with community partners to bring in currently available external enrichment activities.  Coordinates special events for children and adults who are receiving services at Women In Distress.   Responsible for supervision of staff and coordinating of other enrichment services.  Provides direct services as required.
