PLANNED GIFTS PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR WISHES TO BE CARRIED OUT AS YOU WANTED.

You can include Women In Distress (WID) as a beneficiary in your estate plan, will, living or charitable trust, gift annuity, or life insurance policy. You may also specify WID as a beneficiary of a bank account, Donor Advised Fund, commercial annuity, or qualified retirement plan such as an IRA or 401K. Through various planned giving vehicles, you can ensure that your philanthropic giving both helps advance the mission of WID and maximizes returns to yourself and your heirs.

WID has partnered with FreeWill to help everyone create their own will, free of charge, that is legally valid.

Many people end up avoiding creating their will and estate plans, but that could lead to some unfortunate consequences that are easy to avoid. To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online, and can be completed in 20 minutes; or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney and your family.

Have you already included a gift in your will or trust?
Please fill out this form to let us know! We would love to thank you for your generosity and invite you to be in our Legacy Society so we can properly thank you.

Non-probate assets
Another way to give is through your IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will. If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate us as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.

Through these various planned giving vehicles, you can ensure that your philanthropic giving both helps advance WID’s mission and maximizes returns to yourself and your heirs.

The correct estate plan balances what you wish to accomplish for yourself, your family, and your charitable interests in your overall estate and financial plans. Because these are such important decisions, you should work with professional advisors such as your attorney, accountant, and financial planner, and be sure to keep your family informed as to your wishes. Through careful planning and consultation, you can rest assured that your giving will be used as you intend. Planned gifts allow your wishes to be articulated and agreed upon before your gift is completed.

We welcome the opportunity to learn more about your wishes and are here to help you in any way we can, and we’d love to honor you in our Legacy Society. Our staff is ready to answer your questions, offer consultation, work with your professional advisors, and assist with your estate planning needs.

The Lasting Legacy
of Susan C. Gutman

Susan Guttman led a very philanthropic life and supported the work of several charities, helping our community grow and thrive through different missions. Women In Distress is lucky and grateful to be one of those charities. Both during her life and after her passing, Susan continues to impact the work of WID in stopping domestic violence abuse. Her generosity and commitment to the mission continue, and her memory lives on. For more than ten years, Susan consistently supported annual fundraising campaigns, such as our Back-to-School Drive, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and Winter Holiday Drive, bringing joy and hope for a violence-free life to survivors of domestic violence and their children in the times they need it the most. After her passing, Susan continues to make a difference for domestic violence survivors at Women In Distress with her Legacy Gift that will effect change for years to come. This is the difference you too can make.
